Aviation medical guidance

Establish medical eligibility before you spend significant money on flight training. This is the step most students postpone — and the one that ends careers when postponed too long.

IMPORTANT

ARYA does not diagnose or guarantee medical fitness

Only a DGCA-empanelled or DGCA-approved medical examiner can determine your medical fitness. This page explains the process, not your individual outcome.

Class 2 medical

What: The entry-level medical clearance that allows you to begin flight training and register for DGCA ground exams.

Why first: It's faster and less extensive than Class 1 — the right first step to confirm there's no major disqualifying condition before you commit money.

Class 1 medical

What: The full medical standard required before a CPL can actually be issued.

Why it matters: Some conditions that pass a Class 2 review can still be flagged at Class 1 — this is why establishing eligibility early, not right before your CPL exam, matters.

What to expect

The examination process

01

Book an examiner

Choose a DGCA-approved medical examiner or centre for your medical class.

02

Bring documents

Photo ID, photographs, and any existing medical records or prescriptions.

03

Undergo tests

Vision, hearing, cardiac, and general fitness assessments, scope depending on class.

04

Receive outcome

Fit, fit with limitations, deferred pending further tests, or unfit — each has a defined next step.

If you're deferred or found unfit

This is not automatically the end of the road. Many conditions have a defined waiver or special-issuance pathway. Ask your examiner directly what the appeal or waiver process is for your specific situation — do not rely on informal advice for this.
